This is a temporary solution to the issue and won't be resolved fully until Endnote releases a software update compatible to run natively on the M1 chip. Under General, check the option for Open using Rosetta.Go to the File menu at the top of your screen and choose Get Info.Note: You do not need to launch Word, just highlight it. Highlight the Microsoft Word app file by clicking on it once.Open Finder and go to the Applications folder.The trick to get around this is as following: If you have this version automatically installed on Mac, then it would not recognize your Endnote due to the mismatch with the "cite while you write" compatibility. But none of them brought my toolbar back. Endote has a FAQs that list a couple of solutions for the problem. If you are using Word 2011, make sure you have installed EndNote x9 on your computer. Highlight any EndNote item (s) and click 'Enable.' Click OK/Enable. It may be disabled, not visible or simply gone. Word 2010/2013/2016: Click on the File ribbon and select 'Options.' Click on 'Add-ins.' Change the 'Manage' options to 'Disabled Items.' Click Go. There would only be one slight glitch as there is a new M1 compatible version of MS Word. The Endnote Cite While Your Write (CWYW) Toolbar does seem to cause trouble every once in a while. Cite While You Write can now insert into content control boxes in Microsoft Word.
Added filtering for groups on the Groups Pane. However, you won't notice much of a difference as these softwares run super fast on this M1 chip even when they don't run natively. Retraction alerts will now notify you of any retracted publications in your library.
Note: If the Library folder is still not visible, try holding down the 'Shift' key instead of the 'Option' key with macOS Sierra or later. Both Endnote and ChemDraw work on the M1 Mac but not natively. Open Finder, hold down the 'Option' key on your keyboard and go to the 'Go' Menu and choose 'Library' then open the 'Preferences' folder.
